  • Main compartment magnetic flap closure. The flaps can be easily pushed to the side to keep the tote open or to stack items higher than the flap closure.
  • Large zippered front pocket with two hand pockets inside for additional organization.
  • External side pockets on either side of the bag. Can accommodate bottle up to 2.5'' in diameter. 
  • Quick-access magnetic pocket on the back of the bag. Uses a “magnetic zipper” that closes automatically
  • Integrated trolley handle slot for easy carry on a suitcase.
  • Gold lined interior for better internal visibility.
  • Four raised interior hand pockets for additional organization
  • Pleated pockets on either interior side of the bag. They can accommodate bottles up to 3.5” in diameter.

Everything it said it was..... really well thought out.

Great service when I asked about delivery. Love the way it stays on my shoulder easily and I can throw it across my back to evenly distribute the weight.
Love the color in side, and all the pockets.
Also appreciate the fine workmanship and it's actually Make In San Francisco? Not China.

Shinjuku is a winner

Gary, a short backstory - I've been a fan of your bags since the original cargo bag (yes I was able to get the anniversary version that came out). I have looked for a tote, because sometimes a messenger bag is too much and a backpack too bulky or the sling too small. Looking at other manufacturers and their implementations of a tote either left it lacking (thinner materials, less subtle touches on the pocketing needs, even the complete removal of organization pockets but still pricing it at much greater for much less in design. When I saw the Shinjuku Tote hit my inbox, I clicked through the link and reviewed the details. The attention to detail is always something I can count on by Waterfield! No unnecessary zippers to fight though to get to the inner contents (magnets are a really nice touch), the heavy weight materials of the waxed canvas but no so heavy to carry around. The non-slip shoulder straps, the large sized pockets in the corners of the bag to hold bottles were a forethought and not some afterthought where you can barely squeeze in a normal bottle (as done by other bag makers). This will be a bag I enjoy and look forward to it aging and developing a beautiful patina.

PS, yeah liked the thought of the bag so much that I didn't wait till the first one arrived before ordering a second one in the Canvas/X-Pac material.

First trip to NYC a smash

My new Shinjuku tote accompanied me perfectly on my recent trip to NYC to see George Clooney perform as Edward R. Murrow in “Good Night & Good Luck” this past weekend. Everything I needed had a place and I easily transported my stuff from train to theatre and back home. Very pleased, but not surprised, WFD always has my back!

The Shinjuku Tote comes in one size. We recommend using a MacBook Sleeve or iPad Sleeve for protecting your laptop or tablet when inserting it in the bag.

CANVAS GOES HIGH TECH

 

X-Pac® Canvas, a high-performance textile that blends the durable, lightweight, and water-resistance of X-Pac® with a soft canvas feel, makes an ideal choice for the Shinjuku Tote — a bag designed to be comfortable, lightweight, and stylish. 

 

TRADITIONAL 15 OZ. WAXED CANVAS

 

Not all waxed canvas bags are created equal. Lower quality bags use 6 oz. canvas, while most designated as “durable” use 12 oz. canvas. At 15 oz., our waxed canvas exceeds what is commonly sold in the market, yet it's still lightweight. Its naturally rugged, distressed look and can be re-waxed to freshen it up. 

We source our canvas from a reputable U.S. mill that has produced these fabrics since 1930. This specialized textile is coated with Martexin Original Wax™ and shouldn't require much cleaning. Stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

HOW TO FRESHEN UP CANVAS


If you own the Shinjuku Tote in traditional waxed canvas, you can keep it looking like new by applying wax when you think it needs a little refresh. Although you can use any suitable wax, you may want to try Martexin Original Wax™ which was used in the initial coating of your canvas bag.
