The Cargo Messenger Laptop Bag was the first product the company launched in 1998.

The iconic Cargo has two built-in padded pockets for laptops and tablet. The multiple pockets under the flap, on the flap, and interior keep you ultra organized and makes everything easy to access. The gorgeous full-grain leather flap and paragliding buckle gives a classy, distinctive look.

Amazing travel bag

So I ordered the Cargo Laptop Bag when planning a recent trip to Paris. I have a MacBookPro 15”, iPadPro 12.9”, iPhone 6s+, and Bose headphones and needed something to get everything safely and comfortably through airports, flights and shuttles. Not only did they all fit well, but zippers were secure from prying eyes and hands, everything was convenient to reach and access all along the way, and the case just looks classy. I even got a compliment from a TSA agent! Honestly, you can’t go wrong with the quality of manufacturing, and especially quality of design. Everything has a perfect place and fits securely. The bag is so well though out and easy to use, it makes it a worthy investment. It also kept everything clean and dry through a few Paris rain showers. Love it so much, today I ordered the Staad Attaché for lighter weight day-to-day use for my iPad… and have my eye on a few accessory bags as well. You’ve made a happy customer!

The original WaterField Cargo Bag used a real seatbelt buckle — the kind found on airplanes — and industrial-grade upholstery material when it first hit the market in 1998, the height of the Dotcom era.

Modeled after Gary's original bag that he used to deliver packages when he was a bike messenger, the Cargo Bag is indestructible and designed with multiple organizational pockets. Today, customers write and tell us how well their Cargo is holding up, or that they've gifted it to their kids or grandchildren.

The bag has evolved to its current form, yet it still holds true to its original intent — a reliable, stylish carry for those who chart their own paths. And, we're proud to claim it's still made in San Francisco, here in the good ol' U.S.A.

IT STARTED IN 1998

"After a life on the bike, I got an office job that required me to carry a few items to work. I was never comfortable with standard-issue office bags, so when I struck out on my own, I had an idea of what my first product would be.

I remember how much I loved my own bike messenger bag when I delivered packages for a living in Boston. But its open, cavernous interior wasn't ideal for the office. So after several modifications, the Cargo Laptop Bag came to be. To stand out, I chose the airline seatbelt buckle and the eye-popping Indium textile (even though it's supposed to be for upholstery) because they can withstand the rigors of business travel and still look distinctive in corporate settings.

I was lucky to be living in San Francisco during the dotcom years when tech entrepreneurs, looking to make their mark, were ready for a work bag that was more in line with their character. Thanks to them, the Cargo Bag had a receptive market."
