Sutter Tech Sling

After many years of use, I finally outgrew but certainly didn't wear out my Sutter Sling Compact.
I wasted hours searching for a less expensive but equivalent sling and then ordered a Waterfield Full Sutter Sling

I liked the vintage style of the sling bag. The leather details also give it a lot of character. I would have loved if it was also offered in an even bigger size. Even the full size turned out to be a bit small. Regardless, it’s a great buy that will probably last for years 🙂

I have had my eye on this sling for a year or so and i finally pulled the trigger a few weeks ago.

I live in Canada, so the price converted to Canadian dollars with shipping is really steep. I don’t mind paying a little more if i know its a high quality product which this is! I would also like to point out to potential Canadian buyers that Waterfield’s shipping to Canada is the best I've ever seen. I have purchased many bags from the USA in the past from other companies and it took weeks for them to arrive to my door. Waterfield got this sling to me in just 2 days! Shipping from San Francisco to Toronto, now thats impressive!

I wanted a bag that i could throw over my shoulder that wasn’t the size of a large backpack. Primary used for transporting tech and my EDC to work and back. This sling is fantastic quality and i love the leather front on it. Full grain leather makes everything better! I purchased the larger sling with the handle to accommodate either my iPad Pro 12.9 inch or my MacBook Air 13 inch.. Both will fit into the sleeve perfectly, but not together. You could easily fit them both in this Sling, but one would need to be in the sleeve and the other in the main compartment. The stitching and the materials are all top notch and the leather smells great!

I do have a few suggestions that i think Gary could use to improve this bag.

1) I find the pocket across from the laptop sleeve to be a bit shallow. The middle pocket fits my MagSafe charger and also my wallet and thats about it. I also wish it was an inch deeper to prevent anything from falling out of them.

2) The pencil pockets would be far more useful if they removed the stitching separating the two on each side doubling its width. That way i could get a knife or small flashlight in them. However, I did find a perfect use for them, i tuck my charging cords into them (See Photo)

3) The strap is good quality, i have no worries with it breaking. I just wish it was made with heavier material like some of my other bags. This strap feels exactly like a narrow seatbelt, it’s a bit slick in the hands and on the shoulder. A heavier strap might also prevent the shoulder pad from sliding around so easily.

This is my third Waterfield product. I also own both the wax canvas trackpad sleeve and also the laptop sleeve. I am thinking for Christmas i might treat myself to a gear pouch.

Really great product overall! I will happily take it to work everyday and it will last forever.

I know I will enjoy it once I get up and around. I’ve had a little setback with my heart, but I’m doing great and I can’t wait to get back up and wear my sling. Y’all are the best.

Waterfield is the best! The bag is beautifully crafted with high quality materials. I needed to make a last minute color change, I emailed and they responded quickly and made it happen! It got here quickly and securely. My 3rd bag and I’ll be back for more soon.
